Grow In Faith To Serve...Christ

Education Commission

Children are welcome to join a Sunday School class at any time. We have classes for all ages, beginning with 3 year olds. (Please note, children must be 3 years of age before Sept. 15th of the current school year to be eligible.) Please complete a pink registration form to enroll your child in a class. These can be found in the church office, or ask any Sunday School teacher for one.

Our Sunday school program provides students the opportunity to:

Care for one another

Receive others into God’s family

Offer themselves in service to Christ

Share the gospel of Jesus through word and deed

Support them in their journey to Christ

The work we do for our church

The Education Commission meets once a month as other committees do.  We focus on Christian Education in the church.  We provide participants of DUMC the opportunity to learn about the Bible, Christian faith and life.  We select learning resources and recruit teachers.  We support learning through teacher training, and class room logistics.

Ways in which God works through our committee

  • Sunday school
  • Our Sunday school program is growing larger every year.  We support all those involved in delivering Sunday school and facilitate the opportunity for learning.
  • We provide the basic supplies and logistics needed to conduct Sunday school.
  • We research, select and evaluate the Sunday school curriculum for ages 3 years through 6th grade.
  • We offer funding for curriculum to the remaining grades and adult classes.
  • We provide a bi-monthly newsletter to our teachers.
  • We deliver workshops to help those teaching and supporting the Sunday school program.
  • We distribute Sunday school collections to local and national Christian missions or projects.

Vacation Bible School

  • We plan and organize a Vacation Bible School program for the children of our community.
  • We choose the themes for VBS, which vary from year to year.
  • We recruit teachers, coordinate activities and supplies for this event.  We also do our best to be sure everyone has some fun.
  • VBS draws a crowd from our community ages 3 years through 6th grade, and is loads of fun for everyone.  Please see our pictures and tee-shirts from past years.

Here are some other fun and educational programs that we support

  • Christian Education Sunday
  • Teacher Appreciation
  • Confirmation Class Support
  • Graduate Recognition
  • Sunday School Teacher’s Workshop
  • Helping Children Understand Communion

We are always looking for new ways to reach out to God’s family.
